Locals flock to the streets on tricycles, bicycles, and even unicycles for CicLAvia, a street closure event that spans across Los Angeles, from West Hollywood to East LA. The event promotes health and community engagement. It’s a rare day when cyclists and pedestrians can make their way through the busy streets of LA safely. CicLAvia makes it possible by using a split of private and public funding, including sponsorships from local businesses, plus federal and state funds that have been set aside for environmental and public health causes.
There are two more CicLAvia events scheduled for Los Angeles: July 10 and October 9, 2011. To take learn more and take part, visit cicLAvia.org.
